Stau Bau continues onward

This year's Stau Bau has been a hit so far. Monday night's bingo games made for a huge turnout among students. The cafeteria was full of students eager to win a new TV or game console. Tuesday was Bongo Ball in the fieldhouse. The game had a significant drop in attendance from bingo but those that showed up were guaranteed a fun time and maybe a couple bruises from the high powered guns that were used. Tonight Stau Bau continues with Movie Night at Cowley Cinema 8 with doors opening at 9.

Seek Christ past Lenten Season

As I'm sure you all know, this Lenten Season is almost over. One of the most common thing to do during Lent is to give up something that you love. Some give up chocolate or pop but some choose to not give up anything. Some decide to dive deeper into their relationship with Christ by reading their Bible more or praying more diligently. If you are one of those people that decided to grow nearer to God, I encourage you to keep going on that journey past Easter even though Lent will be over.

SC Ministry sets out to make most of the season

As you probably already know, this is the season of Lent. This is the time where people are grouchy because they have given up their favorite sweets until Easter rolls around. SC Ministry has really set out to make this Lenten Season a special experience for everyone. Each week in chapel the service revolves around Lent and this year SC Ministry has started a blog. The blog has contributions from faculty and students and is called SC Lenten Blog. The blog features new scripture verses each post and is updated daily.

"Journalism can't be journalism until it's published"

The quote "Journalism can't be journalism until it's published" was brought up in a media class of mine. I believe this quote to be true. I took a moment to look up different definitions of journalism and all of them included the process of collecting, covering, and dispensing news. Each of these three steps have to work together in order to complete the process of journalism. Now with the times changing and social media becoming even more popular around the world, the process of dispensing news has changed. News is immediate now. There really is no wait for it. You used to have to wait for the newspaper to come out in the morning to find out what is going on in other places. Now a Journalist can write 140 characters or less about breaking news, publish it on Twitter, and the world will know within a matter of seconds. So yes, journalism can't be journalism until it is published. It would be just a web of facts put together in someones computer if it isn't published.

Super Bowl party is huge success

Student life always plays host to a Super Bowl party welcome to all students. This year, the party included wings of multiple flavors, mozzarella sticks, and desserts. In case you haven't been to the Campus Life office, the office is supplied with a big television and a giant couch with plenty of extra seating-it is a great place to hang out between classes, or when you are bored! During the Super Bowl, the excess seating was full of people. There was even a poll going on who thought which team was going to win which incorporated a little competition among the viewers. It was a very good opener to Anjaih's Campus Life reign.

Getting involved doesn't have to be hard

As a sophomore communication major at SC, I know it can be hard to get connected with your fellow students when all you have time to do is go to class, do  homework, and then finally sleep when you get the chance. It is my goal this semester to help everyone get connected by posting regularly about upcoming events that Student Life is putting on. Student Life is the host of many events designed to get everyone involved and interacting with each other so I encourage everyone to make an appearance when you can and relax for a bit!
